Hey guys. Happened upon something unusual when browsing the construction cams of CBG Building Company. Check out "South Alex - View 1" between 9:45 - 10:30 am Saturday, Feb. 8.

https://app.oxblue.com/open/cbgbc

For those not familiar with how to change the date/time of the cam, just click the date/time near the top left and then select the day, and then the time.

Update: The cams for the South Alex project have been locked. What happened was a fire broke out, engulfing a section of the project. It was a major fire. The wood framework and cladding completely burned down to the second floor concrete podium. From what I could see, other sections of the project seemed to be OK. No doubt authorities will be scrutinizing the cam pictures to determine the fire's cause.

Here's the CBGBC link to the project:

Update #2: The Washington Post has uploaded a story on the fire. Here's the link:

Update #3: Videos of the fire uploaded to YouTube:

The area where the fire occurred — the 2800 block of Poag Street — is in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, VA, located just outside the Beltway. Virtually the entire structure appears to have been destroyed. Here's another report with a bunch of pictures:
