They're there for a simple reason and that's because this is a hotel. If you get a mid block site wider then the plot is deep, then this layout, with rooms on either side of a long hallway, which has been popular with hotels everywhere for the past fifty years, makes the most sense. Also there's no guaranteeing for them they're neighbors won't build something to block the view on either side.
