Most owners do not want their property designated but it does not stop the city from designating.

Watkins is a gorgeous concrete and brick structure saved because the current owners (Richelu) had a use for it for the last 30 years much in the same way nutty club or great west metal has. We need to encourage real mfg businesses to continue using these buildings. No amount of designation helps if there is no life in a building. Remember the historically designated St Charles? The city and heritage department should focus on what is at risk today and the impact to Albert street if it's lost... It's getting dangerously close to demo by neglect and another "temporary parking lot" in its place.

Walkin Products have become popular again and can even be found in shoppers drug mart... Although an American company it still has a large distribution facility in Inkster industrial park... If some one could just convince them to move back into their original building... They are a nostalga brand even in their new packaging and marketing.
