While Allentown (the city) is still rough around the edges, the greater area has largely become exurban sprawl for people priced out of the NYC metro. Lots of newer housing affordable to moderate income families. Tons of people commute via bus, and commuter rail is planned.

I'm pretty sure the urban areas (Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton) are fast becoming Hispanic, most of them looking for cheap housing, like pretty much all older towns within say 100 miles of NYC.
