I didn't realise the Boatyard was so young. But, if they need a parking garage, I really don't see it as too destuctive on the area. Most lots are contaminated wasteland anyway, so a parking garage would be better than that. I love the natural and manmade beauty of Ithaca, but if I want to see rundown buildings and sketchy grounds, I'll go back up to Syracuse.
