Yeah.. it's like, what, 5% of Canadians have guns? If even?

In any case, an armed population isn't actually a bulwark against government control anyway. Like a bunch of guys with guns at home could actually put up a military fight against a government armed with tanks and drones. And in any case, recent history has proven that non violent resistance is more effective at fighting oppression anyway. Just 30 years ago the people of East Germany and Czechoslovakia brought down their communist dictatorships without any guns. This whole idea that armed civilians are a protector of freedom is 18th century nonsense.

Hearing that crap from Canadians is very much the parroting of the American right, as you said. Although in fairness, left-wing Canadians do that too. Look at the BLM chapters and such.
