I spend a lot of time in places like Denver, Milwaukee, Des Moines, and Minneapolis. You can rest assured that most of the stuff we think is bland here is actually above average design compared to what it could be. Some of the apartment blocks they build in Denver are downright heinous, like horizontal Grand Plazas all over the place...

Four Seasons, one of the largest buildings there, has an uncanny resemblance to the lovechild of Grand Plaza and AMLI River North:
