Miami is at the whim of real estate developers as far as "design" goes right now. When residential towers are the only buildings going up, innovative design takes a back seat. They are building "bang for their buck". Design is determined by the market in Miami. When you consider the ridiculous amount of major development that happened in Miami from around 2005 to 2010, there was not a single great piece of architecture added to the skyline -- and that's a shame. Miami's best "new" skyscrapers, office and residential, were built in the 1980s and 90s.
I've actually always been partial to that three tower complex designed by Architecnia,or whatever their names is. The towers look like three cubes stacked on top of each other. Very catching.
