For those who prefer smaller towns... you should check out Nessebar, Bulgaria.
It has historical buildings and the town is divided in 2. There is an old part (one of the oldest city in Europe) and a new part. It's also on the Black Sea coast so you will find beaches as well.
The weather is warm and sunny in the summer and it is still mild in the winter.
It actually has a warmer climate (and sunnier) than Milan.
