Tokyo has some really great standalone skyscrapers- I, for one, just love the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, and the Mid-Town Tower, sculptural and solitary, right in between the Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Tokyo Station business cores, and surrounded by a sea of standard buildings. The Tokyo Sky Tree will be much like that, uncrowded by other massive structures for at least a couple of decades.
