Armed robbery in St. John's

Police are investigating an overnight armed robbery in the Rabbittown area of St. John's.

A man, with his face concealed, held up the Needs Convenience on Merrymeeting Road at 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

RNC said the man demanded cash and cigarettes.

Police described the man as having a skinny build and being approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall.

No one was injured during the incident.

One of the comments on the story reads as follows:

"Rabbittown? The store should have had plexiglass and a door buzzer long, long ago."

Do people consider Rabbittown a hot bed for crime? I'll admit the neighborhood is a little slum-y and sketchy, but I've always been under the impression that everyone was too stoned to be violent.
