I see Edmonton and Calgary's relationship as somewhat symbiotic - with each city accounting for about a third of Alberta's population, we need both of them to be doing well for the province to thrive. The cities have different economic drivers so I view them as complimentary rather than in competition. One can't hope for Alberta to succeed while wishing ill upon its capital.
I can tell you I've got my pom-poms out and am rooting for a height race.
