I'm no expert but I think it's very safe to say that the demo is proceeding at a glacial pace due to the very unique nature of the demolition of the building itself. Remember the entire Boyd is not being demolished, the front facade, foyer, the entire lobby and the easternmost portion of the theater itself are all being preserved. They are only demoing about 3/4 of the theater.

Any situation in which only a portion of a building is being demo'd makes for a delicate and slow process because throughout the demolition, care needs to be taken that the structural integrity is maintained for the preserved section of the building. This should be an even more challenging project with the Boyd considering how ornate the interior is that they are attempting to preserve. Also, let's not forget that as it currently stands, that interior is already in a state of disrepair and probably cannot withstand much disruption.

This is going to be a challenging demolition, we might as well all sit tight, this should take awhile.
