So, the report on moving the library to MH35 is out.
Results:
- would it fit?
yes, but the space would not be ideal (not as amenable for programming needs as the current library, and no loading bay)
- how much would it cost?
$4.6M - $3.45M for construction & overhead, $435k for engineering & design work, $776k as a contingency fund.
The library board chairperson not surprisingly has quickly come out stating that the move is not practical and that she does not support it.
This is important information to help make a decision. Now, all we need is to have a thorough vetting of the Bird/Terra proposal so that we can determine what is best for the city and the old MHS site. That is of course if Bird/Terra ever intends to release their proposal for public scrutiny............
