I was wondering the same thing. Looking at the rendering it seems like they might be doing that - it appears they might be saving the facade of the earl abel's building and incorporating it into the new building, you can see a one story section of red brick with blue-green glass on the northeast corner of the building. It'll be great if they do so, the facade has some beautiful ornamentation and historic charm that would be a shame to entirely demolish.

Edit: on closer inspection it looks like they are preserving the entire building and adding a second story to it.
