102 south of that interchange has some substandard curve. I imagine that NSDOT will do some serious blasting to make it 3+3 or 2+2+2+2 in the future. In that case, it's possible that the 102 will be raised a bit higher.
And, as you said, Appalachian hills are easier to blast than Canadian Shield and more stable than the Rockies, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
