Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance is the home of the Zeppelin Foundation, the company created to build transmissions for the airships built there. If you've ever had a car with a ZF transmission, this is where it was born. Friedrichshafen has financial control of the Zeppelin Foundation, so profits are put back into the city. The museum occupies the former Harbour Railway Station and an expansion houses its most impressive exhibit, a lifesize recreation of a portion of the airship
Hindenburg.
