My initial reaction to seeing the crane demo was that it was a total disaster, given that one of the cranes teetered off the side of the building and the other one didn't even come down. Seemed like the opposite of the stated goal to have them sort of collapse in on themselves "like a melted candle".
But it seems a little clearer now that it was more or less successful given the circumstances. The fact that one crane came down without seriously damaging adjacent properties, and the other appears to be in a much more stable position than it was before is a good step forward. I don't think the results are as rosey as City officials are painting it, but we'll take it.
