I don't think turluttage qualifies as Quebecois folk. The start of Quebec folk is with Joseph Conrad who, while promoting Madame Bolduc at the start of her career, still strongly considered what he was doing was folk music. Turluttage was considered in the same league as cabaret, country (Wilf Carter, Hank Snow), jazz (Jelly Roll Morton, Graydon Tipp) and ragtime (Willie Epstein) in Canada, emerging forms of pop music.
