CLEVELAND | City Club Apt Tower | 240 FT | 23 FLOORS
looks like it's on for cleveland 240'/23 story city club apt tower.
vocon is the developer -- its 300 apts -- and the site is 720 euclid avenue in playhouse square. it's a colorful addition for downtown in the cleve!  news: https://www.cityclubapartments.com/c...as-vacancies-/ https://www.cleveland.com/business/2...rking-lot.html https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/...-professionals https://neo-trans.blogspot.com/2021/...-for-city.html july city permit filing: INSTALL 13 CATCH BASIN/MANHOLES, 1 GREASE INTERCEPTOR, 784 LF STORM AND/OR SAN SEWER, 120 LF WATER DISTRIBUTION PIPING BUILDING PERMIT NO. That will NOT age well.
|
^ lol well that is a nice problem for clevo to have for a change !!!! :haha:
|
Fits right in.
|
^ haha yeah, like a glove! :haha:
actually one the buildings right next to it is the handsome old city club building. they are unrelated of course, but will be neighbors. so flee to the cleve -- join the club! |
I'm glad this is removing a parking lot in a beautiful part of downtown, but my god is this the ugliest design I've seen all year. Makes Kaufman look like IM Pei.
|
^ ouch!!!
i believe some of vocon’s new build city club apt buildings around the midwest are similar. https://www.cityclubapartments.com/c...ges/search.asp |
If they'd just make the whole thing matte black, a facade of black lava rock perhaps, this could be a beauty. No comment on the whole 1980's MTV Spring Break pool deck, lol.
|
Oh dear God.
|
We just had one of these open downtown and have another one planned in Midtown. I'm not a fan of the designs, but they're decent infill. And of course, its much better than a surface lot.
|
well come on now fellas, zoomers need a romper room to zoom ya know. :haha:
|
the fresh rumor is -- the upcoming city club groundbreaking will beat sherwin-williams groundbreaking.
Sources close to the project but not authorized to speak publicly say the Michigan-based City Club Apartments is organizing an 11 a.m. Dec. 10 groundbreaking ceremony in the parking lot at 720 Euclid Ave., although the project’s address will be 776 Euclid. https://neo-trans.blog/2021/12/02/ci...dbreaking-set/ https://s3-prod.crainscleveland.com/...0skyline_i.jpg |
I actually like gaudy stuff like this....but it does seem the designer was inspired by a shower curtain section of a local Target.

well since the groundbreaking for city club apts is today, we can look back at an all too common and shameful event in american urban history --
that time 40+yrs ago they tore down the hippodrome for a parking lot. :( all about that: http://frank-dutton.blogspot.com/201...e-closing.html wiki: The Hippodrome Theater was located at 720 Euclid Ave in Cleveland, Ohio. In its day, it was a very lavish theater and ranked as one of the world's greatest playhouses. Performers appearing at the Hipprodome included Enrico Caruso, Sarah Bernhardt, W. C. Fields, Will Rogers, Al Jolson, and John McCormack. The auditorium had two balconies and seating for 3,548. The stage of the Hippodrome could handle large productions and measured 130' wide, 104' deep, 110' high. It also included a water tank for water spectacles. once the largest pre-world war one theater in ohio -- it cost $2M to build and opened in 1907 -- torn down in 1980-81 -- so rip to the hipp -- long live the hipp -- and goodbye eyesore parking lot! https://clevelandhistorical.org/file...c943126cbd.jpg https://www.cleveland.com/resizer/ID...30505a6329.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GHJQ2A6jyY...me-Seating.jpg http://photos.cinematreasures.org/pr...jpg?1307770227 http://photos.cinematreasures.org/pr...jpg?1307770196 https://i.pinimg.com/originals/1d/e2...693d642fe9.jpg https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...lors_fixed.jpg |
This building looks ridiculous and terrible, but the old buildings next door are gorgeous.
