Great pics, Fireoutofclay!

Too expensive. I was paying $780/month for a 1100 sq. ft. one bedroom.

$0.70/SF (what you were previously paying) is just too low to make sense for anyone to build, as so many of our apartment buildings are new construction and have to overcome the costs of construction today. One bedrooms at the Exchange Building are reasonable, but not 1100 SF for that price. You could also look at the Maverick Building. They have smaller one bedrooms within that price range.

Otherwise, you could get a roommate!

Any word out there if the Soapworks can be removed?
When taking pictures of the Frost Bank site last year that area was very shady at dusk.
I would feel a lot safer walking down the new creek without the soapworks being there.

Probably in the future. But there are no plans that we know of.

Seems like a drastic solution just to "feel" safe.

Looks like it'll be about 4 inches deep.

More like a stadium for ants.

Update: Oh, no! Here come the overly dramatic, melodramatic comments about how one's feelings have been hurt in some preposterous way or another. Or... Let's say on topic comments, as if we are talking about iPhones and not the topic with some opinion as to its size and providing related commentaries.

I'm giving you both... Magnum.

{like button}

but seriously, I didn't expect this to be so shallow. I wonder what the bottom of the creek will look like? Stone? Will it be clear water or brown? Time will tell

JACKinBeantown Aug 17, 2017 12:57 AM

My guess is that the rebar on the right is for a retaining wall that will hold up a sidewalk on its right several feet higher (at the top of the rebar) thus making the creek a few feet deep.

JACKinBeantown Aug 24, 2017 4:19 PM

They're putting in lots of retaining wall segments by the Frost Tower site. You can see it on the west-facing webcam (the one on the right).

I hope the Hurricane doesn't ruin too much of the work they've done this weekend.

JACKinBeantown Aug 25, 2017 2:53 AM

If it does, they didn't do it right.

“Once we broke ground and actually started construction, things have been going very well,” said Suzanne Scott, general manager of the San Antonio River Authority. “We’ve had some rain, but because of our preplanning, we were able to get back operating very soon after the rain. The things that typically cause delays in construction projects in a channel or creek, we’ve been able to manage that.”
