Lots of projects I hope to hear updates on soon. Namely Great West Metal on waterfront and that office block on mc Dermot.

Great West Metal should start demolition this summer if all goes as planned.

Interesting article I came upon in using mass timber for construction.

What's the latest on the building(s) at confusion corner? One seemingly done but empty, and one where the construction site is idle? Sorry been away for a bit :)

It's presently on hold.

Phase II you mean? Is Phase I done, but empty?

If I recall the developer used to post on this page.

Phase 2

Phase I seems to be finished, but mostly empty. One floor is occupied, maybe a second, and there is the coffee shop on the main floor.

Phase II has been a hole in the ground for a long time...they had pounded all the piles, poured some concrete and excavated. But then they just...stopped? It wasn't because of cold weather because work stopped way before that, and there has been no movement on the site, not even to move the equipment that's been sitting there.

You must be the only one on here who doesn’t think it was a shit show. The city’s own employees and several construction companies are currently being sued because of this shit show. These people blatantly stole from the citizens of Winnipeg.

Brain Fart! Totally guilty on this one. I read "pub" and thought only of the demolition of the old police HQ/parkade in the exchange. A blushing mea culpa from me!:haha:

Lots of progress on the mixed use building at Maryland and Westminster. I wasn't able to take a photo on my way by yesterday, but it's really starting to take shape and change that corner. Along with the two buildings on the opposite side of Maryland, lots of new apartments/condos in this area. Hopefully they can attract some good tenants in the ground level CRUs.

Where the poverty in Winnipeg goes, 99 cent pizza always follows...

Cheap food though, helped me alot when i was broke & somewhat starving at the U of W, during classes. Even if it was greasy as all hell. I love how they open right beside Dominion too, of all places lol.

esquire Jan 29, 2020 1:48 PM

Even the gainfully employed can enjoy the occasional slice of 99 cent pizza... it doesn't always have to be the frou frou Hargrave Street Market stuff.

GreyGarden Jan 29, 2020 3:17 PM

Manhattan is dotted with dollar pizza parlours. I'm always struck by how poor and visible the poverty in Manhattan is...
