[QUOTE=Darkoshvilli;7288763]Montreal had 30.

Can you give us an update for the Greater Montréal area? Laval, southshore, off-island East and West?

30 seems to be about average in Montreal for the last 8 years.

Chicago had four just yesterday alone including a double driveby on two teens. Happy 2016

Between Chicago and Baltimore. I can not tell which is worse. Both have gone through issues with police relations in the past 12 months, but something has to give. These two cities have great history and neighborhoods and they are constantly over shadowed by gun deaths.

uaarkson Jan 6, 2016 10:31 PM

Baltimore is WAY worse than Chicago.

toddguy Jan 7, 2016 10:29 AM

Columbus is at five homicides so far in 2016, and has had 14 homicides in the last 15 days. :(

all i could find was this article projecting 281 2015 murders for the city, or about 11.5 - 12/100,00

anyone know the real #?

Try this for Houston: http://www.houstontx.gov/police/cs/stats2.htm go down the page a bit. You have to add up the months. Use "20" for any month missing and you'll be close.

Last year 242 with pop of 2,219,933 = 10.9

2,722,000 Chicago
2,220,000 Houston
----------------
0,502,000

Wow! I didn't know it was so close. Ten years ago some people on here were saying it would never happen.

2015 milwaukee murders: 152

most recent pop. estimate: 599,642

2015 murder rate: 25.3

source: http://data.jsonline.com/News/Homici...r/Default.aspx

Same source as you:

152 - 2015
94 - 2014
110 - 2013
113 - 2012
64 - 2011
94 - 2010

Throw the odd ones out - 152 & 64, and the average year is 103 /600k = 17.2

Boston, Denver, Seattle, etc., too few murders for me personally. Nothing against Milwaukee. I don't have the time or space for the list I keep.

Many years ago I met a girl from Milwaukee. I still have her name and address with a Milwaukee Braves pin she stuck in it.

28 murders; 3 of those were homicides ruled to be justified.

Vancouver had a death last night involving a possible assault along the False Creek seawall near downtown, but it hasn't been classified as a murder yet.

With these sort of figures from big cities, the yearly rate for the entire country is going to have to be very substantially higher even if, as I believe, smaller and rural areas show no increase but it will be next fall before the FBI releases its report.

For Travis County (Austin) - it should be noted that this creek saw heavy flooding in May and then again in October of last year.

Badly decomposed body found in south Austin - 1/3

That case is now a murder case from December.

Police: Remains found in Onion Creek belong to slain 16-year-old - 12/7

So Austin ended 2015 with 19 murders in the city, and 40 in the metro.

12/11/2015 - | Austin 19 | Travis Co. 23 | Bastrop Co. 4 | Caldwell Co. 0 | Hays Co. 6 | Williamson Co. 7 | Metro 40 |

While homicides were up significantly in the city and county of LA in 2015, Compton (of all places) must have had a record-low year (certainly in the last 50 years or so):

2015 -- 15
2014 -- 28
2013 -- 37
