If you haven't, you should post this in the two skylines/one shot thread.

Updated Plan For Moffett Park Specific Plan, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County
BY: ANDREW NELSON 5:30 AM ON APRIL 7, 2021

The Sunnyvale Planning Commission has reviewed updated plans for the Moffett Park Specific Plan. The proposal could bring between 16,000 to 20,000 new residential units and millions of square feet of new office space to 1,156 acres beside the Moffett Federal Airfield and Moffett Field golf course. The proposal would impact land primarily owned by Google, Jay Paul Co., and Lockheed Martin.

The key takeaway from this recent study session is that the city council is considering zoning for as many as 20,000 new residences distributed across the park in five potential neighborhoods clustered around the existing VTA Light Rail stations. This would be achieved by zoning for a mix of mid- and high-rise apartment buildings, rising five to eight stories tall and higher. A portion of the housing will be priced as affordable housing.

Santa Clara Caltrain

this is a good-looking, sizable project across the street from the Santa Clara Caltrain station (strangely not mentioned in the article), and future BART (which is). counter-productive amount of parking for that location, but from the article, it seems that that is the law there.

This looks like a great development. I attended law school for a brief semester at Santa Clara University about two decades ago and have fond memories of getting lunch at Neto’s Sausage and playing pool at the Hut.

Caltrain

last weekend I was facing out a sort of dirty window on the NE side of a Caltrain.

in South San Francisco, work has resumed on the reconfiguration of the station

part of the new platform and associated work on the new access from the east side

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...535baf1c_b.jpg

I think this is the new pedestrian underpass visible below the tracks

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b7815dbb_b.jpg

and the ramp to the platform

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c2246d4e_b.jpg

the project at Millbrae BART/Caltrain is underway

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bcab04b8_b.jpg

BART tailtracks in the foreground

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8fb2496a_b.jpg

just south of Burlingame station is this

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3873aace_b.jpg

just south of San Mateo station is this

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b5abe240_b.jpg

around Hillsdale/Bay Meadows, after moving the Caltrain tracks onto the elevated structure and opening the new Hillsdale station, they have begun lowering 25th Ave slightly to give a little more headroom under the tracks. they waited to start this until the underpass for 28th Ave had been completed, so there was always one open path across the rail line. 25th Ave is the one that used to cross the tracks at grade.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8fb53d8d_b.jpg

what I think is the last (and northernmost) office building has started construction

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ceedee6e_b.jpg

it is adjacent to newly-opened 28th Ave, mentioned earlier

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a2f3fca3_b.jpg

31st Ave is also being constructed to pass under the tracks, roughly where the old station had been. this was the best shot of that I got

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f326c618_b.jpg

and what used to be the station parking lot is also being developed (former station location in foreground)

Caltrain 2

yesterday I was facing out not as dirty a window on the SW side of a Caltrain.

moving south to north...

as you leave Lawrence station, a large area that had been a building materials business has been cleared, waiting for development

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d7bfebe0_b.jpg

approaching Menlo Park you pass a massive project whose length could seemingly be measured in football fields

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7fb288a1_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0b5bbdea_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ed0f0029_b.jpg

at Menlo Park station itself, a new mid-size building has gone up

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bc2f02fd_b.jpg

and on the station's north side is another sizable project

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...75eee83e_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2442feb4_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0cd04ac9_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...05b81196_b.jpg

little Belmont has something going

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7a24aa7d_b.jpg

here is a better shot of the 31st Ave extension under the Caltrain tracks at Hillsdale

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d9b72844_b.jpg

and already-completed 28th Ave...

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d08d7297_b.jpg

and 25th Ave getting lowered

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...70543dfa_b.jpg

at Burlingame station, a former auto dealership will become something more productive for its location

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2564ef77_b.jpg

in South San Francisco, I didn't realize they were going to clear the area between the tracks and Airport Blvd (aha, for this). now the housing project that went up at one end (on the left here) makes more sense, as it will potentially be more connected and accessible from this side

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2341afa6_b.jpg

a look at the pedestrian underpass to the new SSF station

forgot one from the Caltrain trip: in Redwood City, this one is going up a couple blocks south of the station, on the west side

I have to say, I think Redwood City is really doing one of the best jobs of making the area around the station very urban and walkable. Other peninsula cities should take note.

Yep, RWC is urbanizing quite nicely.

agree, and I should note, just next to the one in that pic is a massive 5-block project that seems like it could get underway this year, and looks pretty well done.

even more significant in my view, if they can pull it off, is the redevelopment of Sequoia Station, re-envisioning a standard stripmall-type set-up with mostly surface parking into something far more walkable and connected, adjacent to the train station itself. it is this type of makeover that is needed probably dozens of times over across the Bay Area

and speaking of RWC...

this one also looks really good - I happened to be looking at this one coincidentally over the weekend. Broadway, where this project is located, serves as 'main street' of downtown (not to be confused with Main St itself, which is no slouch, but not quite as prominent). and I love the little pedestrian passage idea right next to courthouse square, which really is a community gathering space, especially on summer weekends

That massive Menlo Park one must be Springline. I've literally never heard of it until today, so it's a coincidence that I ran across it here!

indeed, that is the one on the north side of the station. I should have provided a link.

the one on the south side (the football fields one) I think must be this

Agreed. Great project. Would really help transform the area where the strip mall is and really open up accessibility to the station.
