[Halifax] West 22 (7037 Mumford) | 73 m | 22 fl | Completed

From Shawn Cleary's Newsletter

A development permit has been granted by Planning and Development staff for 7037 Mumford Road. The permit is for a 22-storey, 120-unit residential development with commercial on the ground floor. The current zoning on the property allows for commercial and high-density residential development, so it is considered “as-of-right” development. Since this is a permitted use under the existing Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Land Use By-Law (LUB), no public information meeting nor public hearing are required, and the matter will not be presented to either Community Council or Regional Council.

interesting

Are there any drawing of this proposal?

Querce May 26, 2019 11:21 PM

I looked for a while, but I couldn't find any more information.

I'll just mention that this is intended to be HR-1, with a max height of 20m under the centre plan

This is on the Dexel site now, no renderings though.

Construction fencing went up yesterday. They are moving quick on this one it seems, as businesses were open only a couple of days ago.

This seems to be going up incredibly fast, no images, no news, no releases. I have never seen such a large project with such a small online content.

Demolition is now complete. We can see the size of the tower here. I'm kind of getting Point North vibes from the shape/height.

I'm curious how this will affect the already bottlenecked area of Mumford that this is located in, especially during consctuction.

A large mobile crane was working in here today. I suspect the tower crane will be installed soon.

mleblanc Jul 29, 2020 2:03 PM

Crane is going in this week. They are already on the 3rd floor, this is progressing quickly. Still no rendering though!

The crane from the George was going up here today.

Dexel had a “coming soon” tweet, with 22 and a background map of the area. Possibly this will be called 22? Hopefully renderings will be soon too.

Interesting, I don't see any other Dexel projects that "22" could be related to except for this one in terms of floor count, so hopefully we'll see a rendering.

This project has actually been moving along at a good speed, I'll try to take some pictures but next time I pass through - but it has a fairly interesting podium with a slanted concrete roof that looks impressive so far. If I were to guess it is around floor 7-8 by now.
