I think he mentions the pic was too large.

I'm waiting for some nice clear days over a weekend to search for some good locations. I have several in mind but will welcome others if anyone has suggestions. Parking decks offer the best opportunities but as i have experienced, lately they too require permission in advance to avoid being escorted off the property. I will have access soon to more roof tops so stay tuned.

There are 2 new shots on Emporis just taken here in September...

Here are some updated pics of the Terminus project that I recieved in an email from them:

The email also stated that a "sister" office building will break ground soon(Terminus 200) and will be 22 stories with completion by mid 2009.

On the Atlanta thread there were people talking about which buildings will really show in the skyline at night, I'd say Terminus 100 will really be one of them!

If they ever finish the damn thing! It seems like they hit the pause button on Terminus...

Its not suppose to be ready until Spring 2007. They are also making a lot of progress in the interior of the building. I can understand your point about the top, but it looks much more complicated than lets say 1180 and the fins at 1180 didn't go up that quickly either.

I dunno... I kept thinking this one might grow on me, but the proportions still look horrible to me! It seems it should be at least twice as tall with such a large footprint, and although the top is distinctive the rest of the building looks like a 70s throwback. Just my opinion...

ATLBlaxican Sep 26, 2006 8:02 PM

I agree with the proportions part, but I really like this building...just wish it was taller.

I'll also agree with having problems with the proportions of this building. Even with the unique top of this building it is going to look stubby.
Once 3344 and the Mansion are complete Terminus is going to just be another building in Buckhead.

I fourth (or fifth) the motion. Nice addition to Buckhead, but shoulda been taller.

I keep hearing taller on everything proposed; however, the tallness of a building is directly related to the ability to fill the building with tenants. This building has done amazing in leasing space given no major new tenants for the metro area, but it's still not leased out. Developers that build high rises are very in touch with demand for a facility in the cities they are building and believe me Cousin's maxed out probably what they could build in developing this in the current market. Remember they added 2 floors right after construction to accomodate further activity so it was actually shorter when announced.

I think this building is absolutely beautiful in line with 1180. I really think the top is going to be great and have nice lighting at night that will really make it striking.

I think you're misunderstanding my post... my problem is with the proportions of the building, not the height. If each floor had 20% less space, and the building was 20% taller then it'd look a hell of a lot better IMO, with pretty much the same square footage and cost. I'm not one of the folks screaming about supertall for all the buildings... I'd much rather see a bunch of 25-35 story buildings than a handful of 50+ story buildings if we can get all these parking lots in town developed into something halfway attractive.

...and for my $0.02, I fully understand how market conditions dictate building sizes and heights. Perhaps I should have been more clear and stated that I wished market conditions and demands had permitted the developer to go taller. I also understand the need for infill and for a sense of proportion in the skyline; however, BOA has ranked as Atlanta's tallest for 13 years now, and I'm good and ready for something as tall or taller. All the new construction in Atlanta is great, but I've had my fill of 300 foot, 400 foot, 500 foot towers. Give me a new supertall! With Trump apparently not stepping up to the plate, I suppose the next shot we have is the highly speculative (I would assume) "supertall" pegged for the northern extent of Atlantic Station.

So technically it's topped out now, right?
