Austin | Waterloo | 321 Feet | 30 Floors | Complete
This is the first proposed 300'+ West Campus tower. The developer is Lincoln Ventures, and it's called 2400 Seton. I believe we have had previous posts about this project. But we now know the height and have renderings.

This one may be underway already (at least demo or site prep) based on the permit filings. There are a lot of permits related to demo and one for a Luffing crane.

This is awesome! What's the tower next to it? It seems to be almost the same height but only 15 stores tall.
What's their site plan number? |
I remember posting a photo of the site a while back. The site plan was filed before the zoning change last November. So they upped the height after the zoning change. The site plan is not approved yet:

In keeping with the West Campus tradition of every new building going through four name changes, this one has had two names so far: 2400 Seton and Metacortex.

Edited: Just read the description at Lincoln Ventures. I was a little surprised on unit mix. Maybe it’s the aesthetic of the renderings and the height but I thought this would be a hybrid between student housing and units catered to young professionals. Given AC Hotel and the Uptown Class A office proposal (which is up in the air) I thought this was going to break that sole use-case residential barrier. I think with the height bump change, West Campus will eventually morph into more versatile programming beyond serving simply as a de facto privately developed extension of UT’s campus. Especially as “uptown” or whatever we want to call that gap of downtown fills out, I think it’ll start to bleed into this portion of the city.

I've never seen pools crowded in apartment complexes. They're usually empty, no matter how nicely landscaped they are. I think that size of swimming pooling is adequate.
This is a handsome building with a large number of people living in a small area with very minimal parking area. It's the kind of building one sees in Hong Kong or Singapore. This is a strong addition to West Campus and will help create genuine urbanism in Austin. How much retail will this building have? Do city codes require it to have a certain percentage of retail space? |
According to the elevations, this one is 321 feet. There's a part of the mechanical screen that steps up 3 feet above the roof. It's only shown in the west elevation.
