Looks solid.

Menkes is planning a three tower project right next to this project an office tower and two mixed use 70 floors and 240 meter towers. Will have to start a thread for it shortly.
|
i dunno.. not sure why people like this so much, it's quite mediocre to me... i feel like a better design could go with this special site.
even MLS and ICE are more interesting in design imo,, |

This is a stunning design, reminds me of Tour de Toren in Brooklyn.

Unfortunately our project won't look that good. Right now I'm praying 120 harbor is curtain wall glass cladding.
It looks like it will be, but still I'm praying. |
It looks like a window wall system to me, you can see the spandrels lines all over the rendering.
It might actually end up being that new hybrid system seen on museum tower, which could look pretty good here. Quote:
I worked on that project so I should be biased, but even I think they are some of the worst tall buildings in the city. They are so bland, and the parts of them that aren't bland are just plain ugly. The only saving grace is the great massing of the podium that makes the area feel much more urban. |
I like it. It definetly looks like a higher quality hybrid system. I hope the window system accent lines are finished in brushed aluminum. A standard glossy plastic spandrel would be dodgy.
|
A hybrid system would be ok. - Better than window wall

• Reaching for new heights, Build Toronto working with Tridel on this tower. • 75 floors and potentially the tallest Condo in the City • major issue will be auto ingress/ egress • Potentially solved by offering less parking |

Architect Rudy Wallman stated that when he was asked by Tridel to create an iconic design for this high-profile site he turned to nature for inspiration. It is the shimmering essence of the Northern Lights which Wallman hopes to capture in the skin of this tower. Vertical bands of windows will extend from the building's four sides. Those strips will extend at different angles and will be clad in differing tones, catching the light at different intensities throughout the day. At night those strips will be lit for dramatic effect, with the vertical architectural gestures culminating in fins reaching skyward to the top of the building's mechanical penthouse. That crown will be sheathed so that it begins to blend the building into the sky.

When they say 'Potentially tallest condo' does that auger a possible height increase ?

Why not inch it up passed 1000 ft for once, they are after all planning 3 large towers shy of it.

From this VERY interesting article below: http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1091055 |
Toronto engineers are now planning for the next phase of highrise development where towers between 80 to 110 stories becomes the norm. It's all about making it highly cost efficient and highly profitable to build at these heights and we'll end up seeing alot more towers in this range.
It's happening now. |
On my way back from the ACC I grabbed this shot
Looks like a development is planned for across the Street fro 90 Harbour, which has been renamed 1 York. http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/a...photo-1513.jpg Anyone know what this development is all about? |
I have a rendering for 1 York
70 floors x 2 = 240 meters x 2 http://i916.photobucket.com/albums/a.../photo-845.jpg Previously 90 Harbour Going to Tim Hortons now! |
Different building. This is 120 harbour or 10 York.
|
Cal is so goofed up from the JayZ concert. :D
Must have been good times. Classic Cal! |
Well there were 16 articles regarding the launch of this tower yesterday. And that's before it's even gone to sales. Wonder how long it will take for them to sell this one out.
|
Another article this one regarding the design and height of 10 York.
http://www.thestar.com/iphone/articl...the-waterfront |
I know a lot of people will say they don't like this building and it's just another box, but i really like it. I think the proportions - height and width really work well. I don't know if it could be much taller and be proportioned. I like box buildings that are slender and soar and i think, barring finish and materials that the exterior will be interesting.
For me, this could be one of my favorite Toronto buildings. As i have said before, i really don't like Trump and think it turned out really poorly from what it had a chance of being. I can't wait to see what the facade ends up looking like and hope there are no changes to its proportions. |
It looks as though it will be a very classy building. The height is a bonus.

An article on if the city should be getting into the condo game

Preliminary design concept by BILDToronto

Toronto is a beast, love it!
|
That last rendering Caltrane74 posted looks great. It's a difficult plot of land within which to design a good looking building, but this definitely works.
Looking forward to seeing the final thing. |
The last rendering Cal posted was a prelim design that got shot down by the city. The current plans can be found in the first post.
|
Pity, because I prefer the design of the roof from the the preliminary rendering. However, that said, the cladding and walls of the latest design look much better in my opinion.
|
I think the height on this one will be 253 meters.
|
Well once we get some confirmation I'll update the title, but I'm waiting for an official document.
|
Surprised the PDF files have yet to be released.
Well the info is out there, somewhere. |
Wow! That building reminds me of Yarras Edge 1 in Melbourne. Except its a lot taller. It looks really sleek and classy but has some pattern to it. Me like:tup:
|
Nice building. It reminds me of Tour de Toren in Brooklyn, NY just this is taller.
|
Looks like Tridel is facing great interest in its 10 York Development.
253 Meters tall goes on Sale in April - could sell out fast. General consensus is this tower begins construction next year. When it begins, it will pick up the number 2 slot on the top ten constructors, behind Aura. Quote:

The cladding on 10 York reminds me a little of the Oshawa Court building. Which I really like the look of on its 6 floors, so on something this tall it is very likely to look fantastic.
|
Looking at the higher res render, it really has a strong resemblance with the Toren in Brooklyn, at least in terms of the cladding. Which is a good thing, in my opinion. The Toren turned out great.
Also looking at this, you can see that it's not just a box. It's actually an irregular pentagon. The north side has an angle in it as it relates to the angle of the Gardiner, and as a result the east side is a bit longer (or wider). I never noticed that until looking at the more detailed render. This makes this tower far more interesting to me for some reason. |
