Has anyone heard from Andres or anyone else on the latest status of the proposed W-Hotel at this location? Is it still in play or is it toes-up?

Interesting design. Wish the image was bigger and showed more. I'd like to see more of it. How tall was this supposed to be? How many floors?

sirkingwilliam Aug 16, 2007 7:53 AM

14-stories when it was submitted to the city however that picture looks taller than 14-stories. If I had to guess I'd say it's 16-17-stories.

JACKinBeantown Aug 16, 2007 1:32 PM

14 floors looks right. The top eight are more than half the height.

Complex01 Aug 16, 2007 3:17 PM

Oh well that looks nice.

starvinggryphon Aug 16, 2007 3:33 PM

Great. It really towers over all 10 stories of the Maverick apartments next door.

adtobias Aug 25, 2007 11:45 PM

There will also be an aloft at The Domain in north Austin...

sirkingwilliam Aug 30, 2007 3:52 AM

That list is from Starwood and was published in an article from June.

Quote:

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced it has signed deals with four development companies to open seven new lifestyle brand aloft hotels in the state of Texas.

Developers involved with the aloft projects include the following: HAC Partners, Summit Hotel Properties, Santa Fe IV Hotel and 5434 Westheimer.

The seven Texas sites identified for construction of the new aloft hotels are Las Colinas, Plano, Frisco, San Antonio, Grapevine, Houston and Dallas. Groundbreakings for all seven properties are scheduled for 2007 and 2008, with the first already occurring on March 20, 2007 at the Las Colinas property.

The aloft Texas properties include: aloft Dallas Downtown at 1033 Young Street, Dallas (Developer: Santa Fe IV Hotel, LP); aloft Frisco at the intersection of Parkwood and Gaylord Parkway, Frisco (Developer: HAC Frisco Partners, LP); aloft Grapevine at the intersection of Texan Trail and Northwest, Grapevine (Developer: Summit Hotel Properties, LLC); aloft Houston at 5433 Westheimer Road, Houston (Developer: 5434 Westheimer, LP); aloft Las Colinas at 122 East John Carpenter Freeway, Las Colinas (Developer: HAC Partners, LP); aloft Plano at the SW corner of Tennyson & Dallas N. Nice compilation of alofts. But yeah, Austin should be on there as well. Check out the Metroplex with 5! :whip:

JDSII Aug 30, 2007 8:31 PM

I got the list from the aloft website.

AndresAndujar Sep 5, 2007 3:26 AM

Ground floor entrance lobby and retail, four stories of parking above, fifth floor main lobby, bar, pool, courtyard (views of the Alamo), eight room floors above.

The concept is approved by HDRC but a demo permit is still required. Without, this project will not move forward. Going to public meeting in October...

Aloft won't announce deals that aren't for sure, so cross your fingers.
