Tis is a project I really hope goes through quickly, what a perfect spot to build a tower.

Although I think everyone agrees a better, fresher cladding is in order.

I know it's only been a month but anyone have any more info about this project? Where for example would it be located...I ask because I don't recognize the 2 buildings on either side in the rendering

WOW...pretty close to Square Phillips and with that other proposed tower at 1215 that area of town would start filling in nicely. Crossing my fingers :)

Ah Montréal....Ah le Québec... Parfois je m'ennuie mais ça ne dure jamais longtemps. Quand je sors dehors au mois de janvier et qu'il fait 20 degrés à Hollywood et qu'ensuite je pense au -10 que vous avez et que j'avait, ça disparait. J'adore L.A.!:cheers:

J'aime mieux un -10 ou un -20 de temps en temps que les 7 fléaux de Los Angeles (Les tremblements de terre, l'extrème chaleur, la circulation, la pollution, Paris Hilton, la violence et les feux).

Tout à fait d'accord avec toi. On peut bien reprocher toute sorte de chose à Montréal en matière de gratte-ciels, mais ses édifices phares (le 1000, le 1250, la Tour de la Bourse, la Place Victoria et la tour CIBC) sont vraiment très classe.

PVM est un édifice dans le plus pur style international et tout en respectant le style le magnifie, le rend plus attrayant. Quant au 1000, je n'irai pas aussi loin que toi mais il a un grave défaut : il ne possède que deux facades intéressantes (la nord et la sud). Les deux autres sont insignifiantes malheureusement !!

Pour ce qui est de Los Angeles : une ville "tout à l'auto" ?!?!?! Non merci !!! Une ville qui peut très bien être complètement rayée de la carte ce soir ou n'importe quand ? Non merci !!!!!! Paris Hilton ? Hum...laissez-moi réfléchir !!!

Very close minded attitude. There's more to LA than that I'm sure, just as ignorant as saying everyone in Montreal is poor, or a separatist, etc.

^ Unfortunately this is the sort of prevailing wisdom on mtlurb. Most American cities to them are sprawling hellholes overrun by God-fearing xenophobes driving huge polluting cars (and listening to Rush Limbaugh's noise pollution over the radio). I think that's a fair estimate. I wish developers made exact heights more accessible. We still don't know how tall the altoria going to be.

I kind of like the Paris Hilton, I stayed there once and it was pretty comfy. But I fail to understand what it has to do with L.A. ;)

They made it uglier, IMO. I much prefer the charcoal-coloured Louis-Bohème pre-fab panels to this suburban looking modification.

What the hell is that? What is wrong with Montreal developers? Christ, even Burnaby is building nicer towers than this. Ok fine, it fills one ugly hole and brings in light where there has been darkness for ages. But this is Square Phillips man, people will see it.

I agree, this is architectural garbage. People over at mtlurb get all excited for Karl Fischer projects, but I have yet to see something of his I actually like.

How did we come to this I wonder. For a city that branded itself to Victorian folk as the "Paris of North America", the developers sure aren't living up to these standards. Is there no more pride left in this city?

I agree...while I love the height the design as currently pictured does seem a bit out of place compared to other downtown towers (both existing and planned)

But is this for sure a done deal? I mean is it possible the design might yet change?

Like the design or not, it looks like this one will have 40 storeys. Add in today's La Presse.

At 40 floors, this building may surpass or at least reach the height of the proposed Icone tower.

40 floors?? Could it be that the developers took a cue from the other 40 floor proposals down the street? I like it.

I think the look of the tower will change again over time, like it will be refined.

We can only pray! In my opinion this is the worst kind of condo architecture. Even if they tweek it, I'm not a fan of even the basic premise. The only thing I like is the height and location, but after that it's an embarrassment.

Funny how the render makes it seem like you'll be able to see the full tower from bottom to top from Rene Levesque but that isn't actually so so

Where's the rest of the render? What are they hiding?

Looks like a leftover from Vancouver's explosion of condo towers in the 1990s

It's been changed a little again. It's a minor improvement, but I still liked the original render with the black facade the best.

I took a photo Sunday of where I think it might be built, but I don't want to post it in case I'm wrong. :ack:

^ You have a fairly good chance of getting it. Union Street is not huge. It's on the same block as Altitude, but at the parking lot on Union where the Blue Bird Café was located until it was intentionally burned in 1972. Personally I would not consider this project just because of the horrible tragedy which killed 37 people.

And a quick look at their website tells you that they've boosted it to 40 floors!! :banana:
