Units must be selling well if they have increased the height this early in the game.

This ad from today's Gazette shows a little more of the tower without the graphic blocking it.

Awkward design. The more I look at projects in other cities across the world (and in Canada), the more I think Montreal is accepting lower standards than it should.
We were a supposed city of design, well, let's prove it! |
I agree. This is my least favourite project downtown. Very mediocre architecture. I would be overjoyed if this went up near downtown (Pointe-Saint-Charles, Saint-Henri, Centre-Sud), not a block away from PVM.

I am sorry for doing this...
I couldn't find the TOM condos forum, it is not on the forum now..That is why i decided to post some fresh pictures i took today of the model they have insde the sales office. You can erase my post after seeing the pics, or just place them in the right place...Enjoy

Hi guys,
Title of the thread has been changed. EDIT : Also updated floors count from 35 to 40. |
|
Sales are going well for this one. 22% sold already. http://www.guidehabitation.ca/f1nd/p...n/x1x1x1x1x/1/

This project will be 122 metres tall (40 floors).

went to the sales office today. Sales have passed the 45% mark and construction will start mid-october. Should be finished by 3rd semester 2015.
Une autre tour dans le Skyline de notre belle ville. |
This tower is a good candidate to get the chop-chop; on the top 18 stories, only 3 condos have been sold with stories 31-40 having a total of 0 unit sold.
That is, if the plans on site are up to date. It does say 45% sold on the front page so that figure is up to date. |

Just build the damn thing and rent out the units you can't sell! To hell with condos! |
forumer denpanosekai on mtlurb posted this picture.
http://www.mtlurb.com/forums/attachm...1&d=1378212800 I guess this one is going up soon enough! |
I'm not very eager for this one to go up. I find it looks awkward, and it appears that it will be largely covered in bland prefab concrete panels (with cheap windows).

Yeah, not too hot. Looks like a cheap quasi-knock-off of the nakatomi tower

Update from the Tom Condos team:
La construction va débuter d’ici 60 jours. N’hésitez pas à nous contacter en cas de besoin. Merci. Not very precise, but i'll take it! |
The base does look pretty disgusting.
On the plus side it should lower Altitude's impact from points east (e.g. pont jacques cartier). If the roofline stays as in this mockup it may verge on tolerable. Yay. |
Agreed. LA is a pretty sprawled out city, but IMO it has a bad rap. There are some really good neighborhoods there. NYC has some awesome neighborhoods and is probably the world's greatest urban experience, but it also has massive sprawl.
Anyhow, back to this building. It's not the height of architectural design, but I don't find it that bad. It would just blend in and wouldn't be that noticeable, but would also add some really good density. Quote:

I agree. The base is not good at all. The tower portion is fine, and adds some good height to the skyline, and most won't see the base anyway.

Because of this developper's past announcements, I am a little doubtful about this but apparently the construction permit should be in by the end of the week and beginning of the excavation work should be announced at the end of the month.

I think it will be another addition to this construction boom's increasingly long list of projects that have failed, along with -le Peterson -point zero -400 dowd -babylone -maritime tower -univers -place st-Jacques -Tour QDS |
Construction for this one due to start on June 17, with a cocktail celebrating the launch on August 25.

Great news! Here's hoping it ain't another let down.
|
Not the most attractive tower (actually kind of ugly), but the added density is welcome.
|
I was gonna say that this couldn't be entirely dead cause I was getting ads for it on my FB newsfeed

^Thanks for the pic. Love seeing progress for this one.
Here's a picture from Mr. john's summer in the city thread showing how TOM will impact Union street (for the better). https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2908/...40a5d14b_b.jpg |
so will it be a 400 footer?

New High-res render. I would say it's a big improvement, but it's still not to the standard of some of the other projects downtown.
