What is your secret fetish?
Structurally, architecturally, whatever you fancy.
More than one fetish allowed of course A photo you took and caption if you like. Dirty ass buildings that don't give a fuck. In the most beautiful way. https://i.ibb.co/0XpBcMJ/IMGP1109.jpg |

It's not really that secret. |
Urban Grit. I love weathered old masonry and brick buildings. A lot of people on SSP share this fascination.

I super like Manhattan bridge!

Manhattan Bridge rules! I've got the hots for 1960's and 70's black glass facades, with silver pinstripes- NYC has a lot of them. See the skyscrapers in this pic:

^ Ditto those New York skyscrapers - super sexy!
For me, it's anything with those 1960's, Mad Men aesthetics. In my neck of my woods, for example, I would give my left nut for this building to have not been razed. It is the former Corporate HQ of Upjohn (now part of Pfizer) - known as Building 88 and located in Portage, Michigan. This SOM-designed, Sasaki-landscaped building was so sleek and sexy - the pure embodiment of 1960's energy. Constructed between 1959 - 1961. How could anything this beautiful have been destroyed? I'm sure I've posted some of these elsewhere on this forum in the past. If only it still stood today... https://www.dropbox.com/s/y26zw73e6y...ller.jpg?raw=1 https://dm2305files.storage.live.com...&cropmode=none https://dm2305files.storage.live.com...&cropmode=none https://dm1files.storage.live.com/y4...&cropmode=none https://dm2305files.storage.live.com...&cropmode=none https://dm1files.storage.live.com/y4...&cropmode=none https://dm1files.storage.live.com/y4...&cropmode=none https://dm2304files.storage.live.com...&cropmode=none https://dm1files.storage.live.com/y4...&cropmode=none https://dm2pap090files.storage.live....&cropmode=none https://dm2pap001files.storage.live....&cropmode=none |
Minimal Architecture
I have always been a fan of minimalism and I have found that it is being adopted in many modern architectures. Minimalism does not necessarily mean that it completely sheds off the hedonistic appeal. Minimal structures can be quite appealing and be utilitarian as well.

at least Toronto's wasn't destroyed, even though it came very close to being demolished, several times

I also love the setbacks that characterize the famous NYC skyscrapers of the 1910s-1930s

'What is your secret fetish? '
Vintage gasometrers (gasometres? gasomètres?) and old New York-style rooftop water tanks. |
