San Antonio northwest-side panorama
Now that I finally have access to a real computer, I can start posting some SA pics. This was taken from a vacant lot in Crownridge, and shows a good portion of the far Northwest midrises, including the Medical Center on the right, and a little of downtown, too. Sorry for the jpeg artifacture. I'll try to do a better quality one later.

WOW thats a great picture...Seriously like one of the best i've seen of SA in general.
That is a really good picture! Can you see the downtown skyline from the Fiesta Texas Tower?
That's awesome. I wish I knew how to do pans.
GREAT PANO!! Looks to have been taken from or near the Westin resort at La Cantera? The zoom on your camera is great, as I"ve never seen such great level of detail of downtown San Antonio from that vantage point.
Very Nice!
Wow one of the best panos of SA ive seen! Great job.
Thanks everyone! Mopacs- correct!--the vantage point was south of Camp Bullis Road in an undeveloped lot in a neighborhood near Crownridge, just northeast of the Westin Resort at La Cantera (which is closer to Fiesta Texas). Double L- the last time I was on the freefall tower thing at Fiesta Texas, my eyes weren't open, so I don't know if you can see downtown from there. I'm working on a labeled version, too. I also took some panos from Helotes, and some just west of Camp Bullis on the opposite side of I-10 as this one. I'll try and get them up.

Here's another hastily put-together pano from near Camp Bullis road east of I-10

they both are pretty awesome, you should do another from a diferent side of town.
that last one really makes downtown look pretty cool. good job taken photos, boquillas!!!
Yes that is an awesome shot, i love it. I can just imagine it at night, or during a thunderstorm at night, nice....
 |
Great shots! Just think how cool the skyline will look once at&t consolidates its operations into its brand new 700ft glass tower! (wishful thinking:rolleyes: )
Beautiful, those have to be the 1st or 2nd best panos of San Antonio I've seen. That last one is really nice with the greenery and skylines. Very cool, thanks!

Thanks, guys! Wish I were still in town to take more. These are all a little hazy because they were taken at the height of the smoke from the brush fire in Helotes. Though, after spending a summer in Montana during forest-fire season, SA's got it easy. I've gotta say, the great, free-access DT views are disappearing as all the hills in the NW side are being developed and becoming gated. The far north and northeast sides have views as well, but the hills are'nt near as high as the Helotes/Camp Bullis area (around 1500'). Still, for a great downtown view, NE-siders should try Comanche Lookout Park on Nacogdoches just inside 1604. Early in the morning, when the light is right, you can get great detail of DT if you have a good camera with a true-optical or telephoto zoom (not a digital zoom). Especially if you go a day after it rains, so the moisture takes all the particles out of the air. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to when the weather was perfect. Anyway, here are some large-scale pics from NW-side vantage points, plus some bonus shots of Austin.
