CALGARY | Mount Royal Village | 115 M / 377 FT | 36 Floors

This is the original design for the village, however, the design has since been altered. MRV 1 is currently under redevelopment, while MRV II is likely to begin this year. MRV II is the one while will include the large tower.

I should do some digging around on this one. Someone mentioned recently they have submitted their DP, or that they are just about to.

Chadillaccc Mar 10, 2014 7:48 PM

Yeah I remember that too. It would be greatly appreciated if you could find any updated info about it. This will be a great project and possibly transformative for the area.

There was some news on the Calgary thread as to who the Grocer was going be. I can't recall the name, but some chain from Vancouver.

TallBob Mar 10, 2014 10:26 PM

Nice fit for the area. The tower is ok.... kind of busy though. I'm sure it'll be changed a little, but not the height except if they want it taller of course!

Ohhh right. It wasn't Wholefoods or Thrifty.... I forget the damn name.

The grocer is Urban Fare, part of the Overwaitea group.

Sweet I love Urban Fare.

Surrealplaces Mar 13, 2014 6:40 PM

Urban Fare will fit perfectly in there.

PVG-YYC Mar 18, 2014 5:07 PM

nice, I hope they build massive underground parking spaces there....

TallBob Mar 19, 2014 5:11 AM

The tower portion looks taller than 33 floors.... and hopefully it is!

Design-mind Mar 19, 2014 6:37 PM

I counted the side elevation and there is indeed 33 floors plus a mechanical.

Chadillaccc Mar 19, 2014 7:27 PM

This will be one of the best, if not the best development the Beltline has ever seen. I hope the tower is nice. Just the impact that the large-format retail will bring, and all of the new residences. I hope the redevelopment of the east block turns out nice too.

They've submitted their DP application. Design has changed supposedly but I haven't seen the redesign yet (hoping to have them in at an upcoming community association meeting to show it to us)

Hopefully they didn't change it too much. I was pretty happy with the design.

As per the DP that has been submitted (DP2014-0909), The official height and floors for the tower portion of this project are:

36 floors, and 114.96M | 377.2FT

Chadillaccc Mar 27, 2014 11:48 PM

I just died. Thank you Surreal! :D This will be a landmark. 115 meters! The next tallest in the area is only 90 meters! :)

TallBob Mar 28, 2014 6:23 AM

That is pretty lofty for that area.... Great!!

RyLucky Mar 28, 2014 5:59 PM

So vital! It's really happening...

Deepstar Mar 28, 2014 6:31 PM

Mark, Vogue, Union Square II over 30 floors and now this one. It's seems like 30+ is the norm now for residential towers.
