Not sure it ever really had any life. Maybe not dead, but certainly missing.

This is interesting and exciting news! In a year lots, can happen, but one must remain positive, as most people are with our current, scary governing administration!! Let's hope for the very best on this one!! Preliminary designs look very nice!! Oh, and I want to live there!!

Rendering from the link!

If you read further in the article, the firm's chief executive says "this project is done and ready to go". He also says that the project has secured financing already. This is getting VERY interesting!!

I read this on the digital component of the SA Express News, and I believe the article will be printed on tomorrows printed edition of the SA Express News.

Now that rendering is pretty damn awesome. Added floors I didn't see coming either. Downtown sure is getting busy.

sirkingwilliam Feb 7, 2017 9:21 PM

It begins gentlemen.

Remember how we all envisioned a wave of high-rise activity years ago? It's now here,

GoldenBoot Feb 7, 2017 11:24 PM

Is it still 32 stories? I only count ~28 in the rendering.

jaga185 Feb 7, 2017 11:30 PM

Maybe it's an early rendering? It's a year out so maybe they had to change the design for the offices.

sirkingwilliam Feb 7, 2017 11:55 PM

It was 30 originally. I changed it today to 32 because that's what's today's article states. That the developer added more residential units and office to the tower. As Jaga stated, this could be the 30 story version.

I'm so glad this project is happening!

The view of the Tower Life Building is gonna be blocked by that?! :(

At least it will only be from the southwest angle.

I feel ya. But maybe they'll change the design a little since now it's gonna be a little taller. If not I don't hate it. It's just basic.

Kind of reminds me of a mix of the Austin's Seaholm residences and Austin Proper towers. Seaholm turned out better than expected....

What do you think the elevation will be based on scaled drawing +2 floors?

+400 ft?

I think it will definitely be a 400 footer. Kind of a slap in the face to the Frost Tower though, lol.

Awesome!!!! Maybe they can add some height to the Frost Tower.....lol It's great to see this project moving forward!!:tup:

GoldenBoot Feb 8, 2017 8:53 PM

It could push 400'. I think it will be between 375' and 415' when all said is done. Residential towers are typically to 10'-12' per residential floor. Podium parking is usually in the neighborhood of 9' per level.

True, i only say that because the roof of Tower Life is about '404, and the rendering currently puts it there. I'm totally fine with whatever height we get :)
