So, they put up a ton of glass on the garage only to take it all down? Seems odd. They seem to be going a little slow on the garage and most likely will not make the December 2018 deadline they had previously set for the garage.

Well, the panels did look a little odd. I don’t think it’s about function, though, so not sure that alone would prevent someone from using the garage. Maybe they took them off to add more tint to the glass. On the website rendering, the panels looked darker.

If all else fails, they can add the wire mesh panels for vines and call it a day.

The glass is only decorative. The photos didn't show any of the crash barrier cables installed yet, so maybe they were having unforeseen difficulty with the glass in place?

Stunning! Those LED's are going to be incredible when fully lit.

I wanted to give an update on the glass panels on the garage of the frost tower. I have a strong hunch that the design and placement of these glass panels is what we're going to get. I will say that the panels look good at night based from viewing the webcam at night and will look even better win lit, but during the daytime, you can tell that it's too transparent. I was really hoping that it would hide more of the concrete beams/columns and not be so spaced out in some spots.

What I feel should of been used was some type of metal cladding like at the Tobin center. The design on the top part of the Tobin with those small openings as you see from this photo would of been perfect for the garage and would of made the garage look more attractive and sophisticated in a way by hiding the concrete columns and beams and would of complimented the Tower and the ground floor retail very well.

I think they will have some of the fiber optic lights in those glass panels, so will look a little different at night, too.

To be fair, this is the garage. That metal panel at Tobin is not a garage.

Code typically requires a certain amount of garage walls to be open in order to cross ventilate exhaust

There he is again everyone! "That guy". Great contrabution to the conversation micahinsa, very insightful!

I was thinking similar thoughts. Yeah, enough with the "all or nothing / my way or the highway" attitude. Old buildings are great, and new buildings are great... when they're great. There's a lot of old crap and new crap too... and mediocrity in between. IMO, Frost Tower is closer to great while the garage so far isn't. That is a completely separate issue from anything else in San Antonio.

His/Her goal ( micahinsa ) is to get under people's skin. Just ignore, ignore and ignore.....
Eventually it will go away....

I'm curious to know what micahinsa said...but yea like I said there should of been metal cladding instead of glass used on the garage but of course there would still be openings for ventilation but have the openings not so spaced out.
