Four Seasons developers make donation to Foundation Communities

Foundation Communities, an Austin nonprofit that provides low-income families with affordable housing and other programs, received a $250,000 grant from the developers of the Four Season Residences Austin.

Ardent Residential and Post Properties [NYSE:PPS], the development partnership behind the 32-story Four Seasons Residences, made the donation to the nonprofit.

The funds will be invested in the development of housing for individuals who have faced aimlessness.

"Walter and Foundation Communities have developed a model that goes beyond providing affordable, high-quality living for individuals and families in need," says Art Carpenter, a principal of Ardent. "The organization provides vital support services through their Community Learning Centers and the Individual Development Account program, bringing much-needed education and investment support to last a lifetime."

David Ward, executive vice president of Post Properties, adds: "We're excited to be a part of the Austin community and take pride in giving back to organizations such as Foundation Communities who work every day to serve and empower so many."

The Four Seasons residential tower is currently under construction next to the Four Seasons Hotel on Lady Bird Lake. The tower will include 9,000 square feet of retail.

Great to see Austin getting more towers, it really really needs it~!

this building is really going to make an impact along Cesar Chavez because of its proximity to the street compared to some of the other towers.

It doesn't seem to be generating a lot of buzz, compared to Altavida and W and Stacey, but this building will make a big impact on the east side of downtown. We can see what a difference Legacy is making, this building will be about 60 ft taller and much wider. It's kind of the "forgotten" project now, but it will be big when it's done.

Damn. It's like once upon a time, not too long ago, in the middle of Texas....a city just appeared out of nowhere, and so there was Austin. :rolleyes:

Where in the city is this going up, like what corner is it on?

Downtown. At the southwest corner of East Cesar Chavez and Trinity Streets. It sits along Austin's Hike & Bike Trail and will overlook Lady Bird Lake, formerly Town Lake (the Colorado River). It will be caddy-corner to our convention center.

What ? That's it for the foundations ? It's not very deep !! I mean : I'm pretty sure that enginners and architects know what they're doing but I think it i s the first time I've seen building's foundations being so..shallow !!

The caissons and piers were drilled down into bedrock like they do for any skyscraper. That's what holds it up. They didn't remove much dirt because there's no underground parking in this building. There is already existing underground parking for the current hotel that probably prevented them from doing that.
