This is going to be a great addition to the skyline. Especially when looking up from river level.

Bummed it's another hotel, but at least it's an interesting design.

City Council OKs Downtown Hotel, Housing Projects, and Incentive Packages

It looks like the projects on this block got final approval. The article lists the hotel as 18 or 19 stories.
(The title of this thread and an older article did once state it was 24-stories, but the most recent renderings seem to show 19 stories.)

Anyway, it is another project that they are going to try and finish by 2018. This looks like a tricky construction site and with improvements on the riverwalk? (2019 is more likely)

Finally! Things are going to pick up at that corner! That block really is an eyesore for being in the middle of the city. It should have been fixed up years ago.

I'm excited for new activity and I really hope that 10 story residential building gets approved. That would be awesome for the area.

Good Lord that Commerce Street facade is ugly. The poor Fishmarket building looks tacked on like a dead coyote hung on a barbed wire fence. Overall it is a shining example of dystopian postmodern architecture.

I think the Fishmarket building looks OK, but thumbs up for a solid metaphor.

The facade above there though.... it's about 90% brick wall. What the hell?

Demo work should start sometime in January:)

Woot! Thanks for sharing Ryan! :)

They started to put up the covered pedestrian walkways on St Marys and Commerce last week. I guess we'll see the demo starting soon.

This building won't do much to add to the skyline... it won't be visible from many angles when looking at downtown from a distance. But it will be interesting to look at the base from nearby. For that reason, I appreciate it.

I look at this building as infill with a pretty cool design. We don't have anything like it and it's going to clean up a shady corner.

This is not true. It will definitely add to the skyline and definitely be visible from many different angles.

Spoiler Jan 25, 2017 3:50 AM

It will be visible from many angles, and it will also not be visible from many angles!

This hotel will give San Antonio more height density.

Can anyone do one of their clever photoshops to place this hotel in the skyline where it can be seen?.... to settle this:)

You are correct! And by that I mean that I am both correct and incorrect.
