Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort
Architect: Moshe Safdie Marina Bay Sands is a new type of urban place that integrates the Waterfront Promenade with a grand, multi-leveled retail arcade combining civic space, shopping, indoor and outdoor spaces endowed with city skyline views, daylight and plant life, providing an abundance and variety of activities. It is a place that is vibrant and dynamic, a place that transforms from hour to hour, from day to night, and is evocative of the great urban places. It is here that the imaginings of a global city become a reality. Marina Bay Sands, to be open in 2009, will feature three 50-story hotel towers containing 1,000 rooms each, crowned by a two acre Sky Garden bridging across the towers, offering 360-degree views of the city and the sea, outdoor amenities for the hotel such as jogging paths, swimming pools, spas, and gardens; an iconic Arts and Sciences Museum on the promontory; one-million square feet of integrated waterside promenade and shopping arcade; a state-of-the art one-million square foot convention center; two 2,000-seat theaters; a casino; and a 4,000 car garage. http://www.msafdie.com/images/1167 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1182 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1169 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1171 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1178 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1180 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1168 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1185 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1184 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1187 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1177 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1179 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1172 http://www.msafdie.com/images/1181 http://static.flickr.com/71/211644445_6468276240_o.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...y/mbrender.jpg |

Don't mean to hijack this thread, however this the first time I've noticed the massive amphitheater / stadium and the huge floating stage. What type of events are hosted at this venue? What is the name of it? BTW, visited Singapore for a week 2 years ago and loved everything about it, except the humidity. |
No worries!
It is simply called the Seating Gallery and Floating Stage. It was finished last year and is used to hold events, concerts, celebrations like firework countdown at new year etc. I've created a thread just on it with pics :) http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=136090 |
