Arto Deco towers like this, ESB and Chrysler are the physical embodiment of God's glory here on Earth :worship:

The above view is the best; the narrow front of the building is much more graceful that the slab-like sides.

The Art Deco towers are indeed glorious but religion has nothing to do with it.

Most skyscrapers* are monuments to mammon rather than God as I believe was mentioned about the Woolworth Building (Cathedral of Commerce).

* There is at least one exception (the 568 foot high Chicago Temple Building).

Wow, how recent is that last shot? Hard to believe the rink would be open in 70 degree weather.

Definitely worth the visit. There's no lengthy wait. I've been up there about 10 times since it reopened (I'm due for another visit now).
My first trip up there was on the day of the reopening, and Bloomberg and friends were there to celebrate. Some older pics...

The rink opened this week. BTW, I've been wondering if the new height measurement rules affect this one. Probably not.

AWESOME pics everyone! This skyscraper is one of my new faves after my visit to NYC.

One reason I like the observation deck here even more than the ESB's is the fact that they've got benches up there, and allow people to sit. Seeing how savagely my walking boots turned on me and how much pain my feet were in, this was such a blessing.
And I love that elevator with the glass ceiling. The elevator shaft looks cool with those blue lights, almost like a runway.

NYers Can Now Build Their Own 30 Rock

Obsessed with architecture? Odds are that obsession began, as it did for certain members of The Real Estate Desk, with some LEGO blocks as a child. That is part of the excitement of the LEGO Architecture series—it's LEGOs for grown-up, eschewing the pirates and spacemen the toys typically traffic in. (Not that there's anything wrong with a fully grown man, living in the big city, playing with LEGOs on a quiet Saturday night. Right?)

The Danish company has just released its second set of building blocks in the Architecture series, and it has turned once again to the grandest skyline in the world for inspiration. Following up on last year's Empire State Building and Guggenheim, there will now be a Rockefeller Center set to entertain the child in all of us, or those who have always dreamt of being a Speyer. To top it off, they're only available in select locations, one of which happens to be the new LEGO flagship at... Rockefeller Center.

The set includes 260 pieces, measures 5.4 inches high when built and is recommended for children over the age of 10. This being New York, probably cut that in half, our kids being so adorably sophisticated and grown-up.

The GE building was lit up in red, white and blue for Election Day. It was really nice to see. :) Here are some pictures. :D
