Sama Dubai unveils ‘Dubai Towers’

Sama Dubai, the real estate development and investment arm of Dubai Holding has announced the launch of ‘Dubai Towers – Dubai’, a cluster of breath-taking towers that combine, to form a truly inspiring and dynamic sculpture.

Centrepiece of ‘The Lagoons’ Central Business District, the ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai’ will comprise four state-of-the-art towers for residential, commercial, retail and hospitality purposes. Ranging between 57–94 floors, the estimated date of completion of ‘Dubai Towers - Dubai’ complex is mid 2010.

Launched under the ‘Dubai Towers’ brand of Sama Dubai, the iconic structures will feature a choreographed concept of form and function to metaphorically represent the movement of candle light.

‘The Lagoons’ is a mixed-use freehold development being built along the Dubai Creek coastline. The AED 65 billion (US$ 18 billion) project will cover an area of 70 million square feet over 40 kilometres of waterfront land. Located next to the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, ‘The Lagoons’ will ensure harmonious existence with the surrounding eco-systems.

‘The Lagoons’ will appeal to tourists seeking cultural attractions with its theatre, museum, arts center and Dubai’s opera house.

These are the same guys who are doing the massive towers in Istanbul and Doha. Also rumours have it that they're planning more towers for other places, I've heard Melbourne mentioned

They look like the Dancing Towers but pointed at the top.

According to SA Boy over on SSC these guys will build towers all over the world, especially where emirates airlines flies, and each will have a jumeirah hotel (so the hotel operator guaranteed) and then sell apartments, offices, etc in the rest of the tower. New York is the only city in the US emirates flies to so we could see a Dubai Towers NY at some point ;)

Apparantly there's a dubai towers casablanca released as well but no renders. That's pretty much a lowrise city though so something like this would certainly look way out of place. (It is a place emirates fly to though)

No height has been released so far, but 'The Lagoons' have a height limit of 400m(1312ft) due to the proximity of the Dubai Intl' Airport. So expect it something close to this figure.

It vaguely reminds me of SOM's 2002 proposal for the reconstruction of the WTC.

Is it even possible to build such "wavy" towers???

^^ I think so, also the core shouldn't be a problem since they don't bend enough to not allow it to go straight up. The maximum height in this area apparantly is 400m because of the airport so will be just less than this.
