That hotel you talked about at the bottom of that PDF file looks beautiful. I'd love to see more of that.

has anyone signed up yet
After reading all of this I have a question...has any hotel company or business signed up for this project or was Ikea named to just grab headlines?

I can't even believe IKEA started this. Yes, it’s an interesting place-more a destination for come reason. IMO it really is not all that special. My sister recently got a dresser there that’s nicer than I expected it to be. I didn’t expect much, but she really got a decent piece for a very good price.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, Trae. And furthermore, I can't believe That anyone who maintains their own forum would be trolling in such a way on another one.
Stay on topic please. |

Looks something like the Elian.

With what's going on in the 10/1604 area, I am not scared to say that this area will contain some of the best if not the best shopping in Texas.
|
No. outside of La Cantera, everything else is typical suburban big box shopping.

What stores are at those places.
And I can think of other areas with better shopping. Uptown Houston and Uptown/West Village in Dallas. |

You have The Shops at La Cantera and Eilan providing the high-end and upscale, you have The Rim and The Landmark providing regular and high-end and then you have Cresta Bella. That's nearly 6 million square feet of retail plus the mixed-use aspects of these projects, three of them being urban village type designs. |
There are several big box stores in the galleria area here in houston.

They don't dominate.

I only can think of one Best Buy (there are probably more). The strip centers are getting redeveloped into mixed-use centers (BLVD Place, River Oaks District, etc.).

This shows the various mixed-use developments happening in the 1604/10 area. Though Cresta Bella has only the commercial portion highlighted.

Maybe someone will get the idea to build an underground transit system to connect not only the mixed-use developments but also the Valero HQ, UTSA, Westin/Gaylord/Whatever and Six Flags.
