Lol it's Roblin Blvd. And the change happens at the main entrance to the park. So yes, the new gate is on Roblin Blvd.

Hope it's completed as well and you and your g/f enjoy it..:) Funny you mention Winnie, I was in a movie shot here back in 2004, called a "Bear Named Winnie". Locations for the shoot were in Crescentwood, the Zoo, Birds Hill Park and Stony Mountain. Cool story.(no hd video sorry) |

I heard (second hand) last night that Assiniboine Park is planning to add new roads/parking in the park, resulting in the loss of some of the fields that are currently rented to sport leagues.
Does anyone have any more reliable information about this? |
Great addition, always excited to here about new projects and upgrades to the Zoo and Assiniboine Park...
Just adding it here as well... Quote:

Any idea where that building would be located in the park?
Edit: Just read the article - southeast corner of the park. Article also says this is the final major phase of the redevelopment of the park. I thought the zoo was in the process of being completely revamped. New areas and new enclosures for all the animals, not just the new entrance and new polar bear exhibit. Is that part of the $200 million redevelopment of the park or are the improvements to the zoo part of a separate funding scheme? I really hope they plan to resurface the back road loop of the park nearest the river as part of the improvements. Some sections were in terrible shape. |
The rendering is accurate as well. People in parkas instead of palm tress.
