I am looking forward to this one!

Yup building completely closed off, hope they have their demo permit and construction BP! Looks like Manulife has just started construction too. This Brookfield Place, and Manu will be a huge boost to the central core and three more of the best looking towers in the country for us!

Manulife has been cracking lately, they've taken down most of a floor in the last day and shoring is progressing rapidly on the other half the site

I posted this in the construction forum as well

Any ideas whether the balloon rabbit sculpure in the lobby is the actual design or just a placeholder? Jeff Koons is pretty hot in the art world right now - another piece in his balloon animal series sold for $58 million last year, which Christie's report to be a world record for a living artist.

Stantec mixed will be a little taller, but Sky is much sexier for the record.

s211 Aug 26, 2014 11:12 PM

Sky does seem more cohesive, must admit.

Interesting that the second floor windows can be opened?

H.E.Pennypacker Aug 27, 2014 2:26 AM

Damn, I like that street level render ... Can't wait for this one to start :)

VIce Aug 27, 2014 3:09 AM

The weird stock-photo-people that populate architectural renders always kind of weird me out.

suburbia Aug 27, 2014 4:42 AM

So Edmonton's new Stantec mixed use building is taller than TELUS Sky. Just sayin'.

Chadillaccc Aug 27, 2014 2:34 PM

:previous: And less than half as attractive :P

That would be awesome if that was on the +15 level.

We need more European designed projects here. This project's very elegant throughout.

I guess so. Foster, Snohetta, and BIG are all European firms and all three of their buildings are going to be icons of Calgary. I'd just say we're very lucky to be getting/have gotten the buildings we are getting. It would be wonderful in any city to get these insanely skilled architects designing towers and building them, but in a city of less than 1.5 million, that makes it even all the more incredible. These firms have made this pivotal point in our city's history a really worth-while and rewarding time.

TallBob Aug 27, 2014 4:16 PM

Calgary has to get out of this "Bulky" style on a lot of it's newer buildings!
