Since minor league parks are being posted, I'll show our local stadium. Renamed Modern Woodman Park in 2008, the former John O Donnell Stadium was built in 1931 in Davenport Iowa on the banks of the Mississippi River on the site of the former city dump. Today it is the home to the Quad City River Bandits, a single A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. It was completely remodeled in 2004. It seats approx 4024 people.
I've spent many hours since my childhood in this beautiful stadium. While it looks almost like a completely different place inside the park since it's renovation, it will always hold a special place with me.
I don't know if it's due to the current economy and more people are having "staycations" but the games are almost always sellouts this year. Hey, it's cheap, fun entertainment.

Groundbreaking is coming up this week at the old Orange Bowl site. Will feature a retractable roof (due to all the heavy summer rains in South Florida), and a glass wall over the left field seats, which will allow an amazing view of the Miami skyline...

After extensive tests, engineers and ownership concluded that punts and kickoffs would not hit the jumbotron in the middle of the stadium. Before any game was played, punters hit the scoreboard about 15 times in warm-ups. In the very first game at the stadium, a punt hit the jumbotron during play.

Although it's lack of proximity and lack of integration with any urban area, alternative forms of transit, etc. has me saddened, the insides of the new Cowboys Stadium is absolutely unreal! I love it.

Thats a NICE stadium!

It's primarily for American football (pro, college and high school) but it also hosts soccer, basketball and maybe even boxing as the stadium is in the running for the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight. I believe the powers that be are even trying to schedule some rugby matches.

I asked because thats real grass in that stadium... and I dont see american football markings...

I remember in the 94 USA World Cup, most matches were hosted in american football stadiums, and there were problems with several fields that were smaller (in width) than the minimum official standart set by FIFA.

How to they intend to keep the grass healthy with so many matches/games going on between so many sports?


what do they do with the grass when they must host basketball, boxing, etc? I already went to a Rush show in a football (soccer) stadium, and they had put these plastic (?) perforated cover over the grass, to protect it but keep it breathing.

But I understand that it must be occasional... hosting too many basketball or boxing events would eventually kill the grass.

in Germany, due to fans demand, you have super modern stadiums but they still keep terraces, although they install lots of safety barriers (instead of ONE, separating fans from the field, as in the Hillsborough disaster), this way, making impossible to have fatal crushes and fans swaying

That's actually not grass. It's a new artificial turf system that features the "real grass" turf but can be rolled up allowing multiple fields to be used. The stadium has three different turfs... one for the Cowboys with all the NFL markings and the cowboys insignia, they have another American football field with college markings that can be painted or left blank for college and high school games and then they have a soccer field with just soccer lines on it and shorter grass blades which allow the ball to play faster like it does on grass, soccer only fields. Now, they do have a grass surface that they can truck in from East Texas and did bring in for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but it is my understanding that FIFA was consulted and approved of the artificial surface allowing the stadium to use real or artificial surfaces for soccer.
