283 rooms seems pretty small for a JW. I like the decoration on the glass.

Mandarin Oriental to 2999 Turtle Creek
One of the world's poshest hotel flags is finally planting in Dallas after a failed attempt before the 2008 Recession in Victory Park. Landing in the same zip code but a little to the northwest. The development will contain 176 rooms and 120 residences. More details will come later down the road. WFAA https://www.wfaa.com/article/money/b...f-5ea57298df4f |
Great news to hear about the JW! To be completely honest, I was a bit worried we were going to be stuck with that parking garage without any of the mixed-use components being built for 5+ years.

So I got the chance to visit home for Thanksgiving and I've got to say that all the stuff that was under construction when I visited this past spring has turned out really nice. I took about a million photos but here are some of the better ones.
Exxir Capital's building on Davis (denoted as 'Building B' on their masterplan) https://i.imgur.com/5FQG0kDh.jpg Mural along the backside of Building B https://i.imgur.com/roXuRNfh.jpg Building B landscaping along 9th Street. I really appreciate the aesthetic they're going for with the cactus. https://i.imgur.com/isRBXLih.jpg Streetscape along Bishop. https://i.imgur.com/b9Jovrsh.jpg Building E on the opposite side of the street. https://i.imgur.com/1H3XW8Zh.jpg Building A right next to it. https://i.imgur.com/a9wrcVeh.jpg New French Bazaar in Building B. https://i.imgur.com/8n5qScfh.jpg Plaza on the corner of Bishop and Melba https://i.imgur.com/HaWvawGh.jpg New condos on Melba https://i.imgur.com/FHs8Y9Nh.jpg View looking East down Melba https://i.imgur.com/0dHSivOh.jpg New Coffee/Wine Bar https://i.imgur.com/cDStSQmh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rIZr18eh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/26LNIHoh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/o3WDUUTh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MykOHl9h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BYhMgOVh.jpg Bishop Highline Phase 2 and Exxir Capital's Apartments https://i.imgur.com/7qjLLT1h.jpg Close-up of this kickass mural https://i.imgur.com/dwcbQHVh.jpg Alamo Manhattan's project https://i.imgur.com/hOsqnCOh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/G9MClUgh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cpMq0Iah.jpg Bishop Arts Streetcar Station https://i.imgur.com/HeeOYPgh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nz1y69Nh.jpg New brewery in Novel's pedestrian esplenade https://i.imgur.com/JwIM6Wih.jpg Old Mayor's House https://i.imgur.com/gVQzV3lh.jpg New condos going up on Zang https://i.imgur.com/jXiZ1Ujh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9l33L8lh.jpg Apartments going up across the street https://i.imgur.com/6NUtaqYh.jpg New Condos going up on 9th Street https://i.imgur.com/E25fTuSh.jpg |
I also got the chance to photograph some stuff going up in other parts of town but my last post was getting a bit long so I decided to split it into its own post.

Awesome photos, guys. Thanks for posting! There's so much happening in Big D right now...it's nice of people to share some of it here on SSP and not just on DallasMetropolis. :)

It's weird that Amlia looks so much shorter from one angle to the other. Still a very nice compliment to the original. I'm torn on the twin not being built.

Love it! Build it!

Meh. Not really impressed with the architecture at all but I’m almost never a big fan of HKS. Looks like a lot of the buildings going up in Downtown Austin, very trendy and bland, not iconic or unique. Too bad we can’t get something more architecturally significant considering how long those lots have sat there. I wish they would go for something more inline with the Fountain Place development nearby. What DART railine are they referring to? The elevated walkway looks kinda dopey too, if built it would end up looking like one of those ugly highway walkways.
On a positive note, at least they are aiming for high density. There’s a shortage of apartments in that part of downtown. Hopefully the design will improve. |
Gobbling up more surface parking lots ?
|
Nice, looks higher than (or about) 500 feet too

Awesome, can't wait to see the finished results!
