Wow that looks awesome. The architecture is really bold too, often these mega projects seem to use a bland post modern aesthetic so that it "blends" with the surrounding community. Can't wait to see this get underway, I hope the market holds out and rebounds for this fully built out.

i don't like the trammel crow proposal... i hope those pictures are rough images and not exactly what they will look like. i would've liked the stratus properties much better... very modern. but we'll see how the trammel crow buildings will pan out in the future.

i especially liked how the stratus properties included the rest of downtown. so you'd get an idea what it would look like. for whatever reasons... i guess the city just wanted another 700 footer. i see will wynn everyday where i work... maybe i'll let him know about it. :D

So, about all that parking and Austin's walkscore...

migol24 Sep 3, 2008 11:51 PM

also forest city... one of the proposers for the greenwater treatment plan has also a building included in their powerpoint. the building is called Ovation and was proposed for 6th and nueces. they also happen to be the firm that designed 360... and it's telling by the architectural structure that it's by the same designers. here's a link to the renderings. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3Den%26sa%3DN

does anyone have any idea about this building? i have not heard of it anywhere else except on the powerpoint presentation for the greenwater proposal. and it is not one of the buildings included for the proposal. ps
:( (i don't know how to post the picture... can anyone please help me so i can post the image directly on the screen?)

I believe the Green water treatment plant is scheduled for demolition sometime this year. After that? Don't know......

I like the green building techniques, but man, they have got to work on those designs! They look like Sim City buildings. :yuck: The solar array seems like a waste of land also.

Solar array: nice gesture, but doesn't belong downtown.

Raining Inside Mar 14, 2009 8:34 AM

The Green site seemed to be pretty deserted have since the plant was decommissioned. But last week I noticed there was a lot more activity. By activity I mean people at the site. I have no idea what they were doing because it looked like they were doing a lot of walking around.

Isolation of utilities tied into the plant has been going on for a couple months already. Actual deconstruction of the plant will begin within a month or two.

The solar array is on top of the electrical substation that serves Downtown. The substation will not go away, although the footprint is being shrunk to make room for the new Central Library. The solar array was just a concept in the RFP submission and will not likely happen unless Austin Energy decides to add more solar to all of their properties.

Well thats good news!

A really nice project here guys! It looks like a city on its own with trees, a power plant (Abandoned though), solar panel field, lots, roads, a major road, a stream, a park, courts, swimming pool, and skyscrapers! "Green Water City". I really want these buildings to be built. It may even be a new borough in Austin!

NThomas Jun 13, 2009 5:10 AM

Will the Trammel Crow buildings be using those solar panels over the substation or will Austin Energy used the collected power?

All we have to say is the city. This will really boost the skyline look, like some steroids were injected into Austin! This skyscraper boom sure is going!

Is anybody sure of a 900-1000 footer by 2013 and a 1000+ footer by 2015?

Yes we are booming. 6th fastest growing city since 2000. We have a city pop. of 700,000+ and a metro pop. of 1,000,000+.

Happy to live here. I am actually in a suburban area though.
