The SSP Calgary Baby/Children Thread

Well seeing as how a whole bunch of us already have kids or have kids on the way I figured we could have a place amongst all this skyscraper nerdiness to discuss all things related to this aspect of our lives.

I'm relatively new to the game, with Mrs. Bigtime and myself welcoming our daughter Littletime (Sukey) into the world on June 4, 2009. Just today she went for her 4 month shots, and Mrs. Bigtime informs me she took all 3 of them like a champ! That's my girl!

Here is Littletime enjoying some of the early October sun on our balcony:

Nice work Bigtime! that is awesome!

I have exciting visions of what this thread holds:

-talking about poop
-talking about vomit
-talking about boogers
-talking about poop again

Good times! :haha:

Speaking as a non-breeder, I wish you guys all the best with your kids. :) I'm sure you'll know the Treehouse schedule by heart in no time!

I think about 80% of our garbage now consists of diapers.

(How's that for poop talk?)

Looking forward to uninterrupted nights of sleep again. At least our little man is going 3.5-4 hour stretches in between feedings. Of course, his cry is now waking up our 2.5 year old daughter sometimes, so them I have to go tuck her in again.

We were getting crowded in our 980 sq ft place with only one kid, now we've got two, and there's extra baby paraphernalia everywhere.

Lol, too true, and all the theme songs too!

I quite enjoy 'Third and Bird' on Treehouse. :)

Supreme Irony of the Day:

The bottom of this thread had an ad for plentyoffish.com.

Edit: actually, I guess that's not ironic if some people come here, see the pics and vomit talk, and think "damn, I need to hook up so I can have a baby too".

I'm past all but the boogers stage now. The vomit stuff will start again in the teenage years.

Proud dad of 9 year old boy/girl twins. You guys with singletons have it easy.

I thought I was a Treehouse expert but haven't seen that one yet. Our daughter is hooked on Dora (who's daughter isn't) followed closely by Diego, Franklin and Little Bear. Dora even tops her favourite movies (Madagascar 1 and 2, Finding Nemo). You'll soon realize the amazement that is The Wiggles.

Pro tip: Arthur is hilarious regardless of age. The subtle (or not) references, they're just total art.

I won't be posting here much, I don't plan on having babies anytime soon.

Ah yes. I remember that fondly :haha:

Nevermind.

The glass bowl Grandma Thora is looking at is supposed to be the same shape as the bowl on the Stanley Cup.

This episode is better in HD, by the way. (Yes, I've seen it broadcast before) :D

Things I am looking forward to doing as my daughter gets older:

-Take her for a flight in a plane with me at the controls (she has already flown commercially)
-Halloween trick or treating (still going to find a halloween costume for her this year)
-Sharing my favorite movies of all time with her (and her thinking that dad is nuts to like these "old movies")
-The first Christmas she will really remember
-Going skiing/snowboarding (oh god I hope she is a skier!)

Wait until you share your favorite music with her.

Yeah no kidding! :haha:

However the funny thing is that even now I tend to get a lot of my music from first hearing the CD that my dad bought. I hope I can be that cool when I'm older, and my daughter picks up stuff after hearing it with me.

"I used to be with it. Then they changed what it was, now what I'm with isn't it."
