The Cloud is a speculative design for a resort city elevated 300 metres in the air above Dubai and supported on slanting legs resembling rain.

Has anybody considered the tremendous waste of water created by generating a 24/7 cloud around the structure, especially when Dubai is in one of the world's hottest deserts?

wth? are they really that crazy? out of all of the things ive ssen so far proposed for Dubai, this is on a whole new level of crazyness.

The is absolutely ridiculously weird ..............don't think this is gonna be constructed. Too unsafe to build that...

I think its simply amazing the stuff they're even willing to consider in Dubai, regardless if it gets built or not. 5 years ago I looked at all the proposals there and said to myself 'none of that stuff will get built', and now I'm seeing whats actually being built, and I cant be so glib about it any longer. Dont dicount this kind of fantasy stuff so quickly.

As much as I think this building and others in Dubai area very cool looking, I'm not sure if these are all going to have the intended effect. Some of these buildings look more like they belong in Disneyland than in the up-and-coming "business hub" of the Middle East.

I love Dubai. But this is stupid.

I really appreciate the bold vision of designing/proposing this, but I can't imagine I would like my city to have a permanent rain cloud affixed in the skyline. Would anybody here?

Seriously, long column's like that are rather unstable without lateral connection. No visible lateral bracing means that thing is going to wobble like mad. No thanks. I mean, sure it's a desert and all and a rain cloud may look refreshing, but this is nuts. :koko:

Come on, it's Dubai. The odds are at least 50%...

I remember 2-3 years ago when I was one of the few people who actually believed that Dubai will build all the things it proposed like the Burj Dubai and everybody called me crazy. Today almost all are u/c. :)

So wait and see and don't be surprised if they will really build this.

This is stupid. If this is built, which it wont be, they should change the name from dubai to disney world. i mean come on people, they have lost touch with reality.

It looks crazy, but then, if anyone can pull it off, the wondrous UAE can.

As ever, I continue to salute their boldness and determination in building the greatest city on Earth.

*its a shame repulsor lift anti-grav tech doesn't exist, or you could be sure the UAE would be building 'cloud city'. Oh well, one day maybe.

They can propose and build anything without giving it a second thought, and they are doing it.

Say what you want, but you have to admit this is cool as can be. If it really does get built just imagine what it'll look like.

Everyone's picking on Dubai, but I think Las Vegas has done worse things. Atleast Dubai has the creative genius to think up these things.

Where are the people going to park their cars?

This project isn't real anyway, probably just a vision by some architects, same as X-Seed 4000 or something like that.

I wonder if this will ever get built in my lifetime?

I don't know what I think about because the renderings are so vague. Maybe it's cool?

^ Please, this wouldn't even be that much of a reach for Dubai considering some, no, many other proposals out there that are just about as insane. Those laughing at this are probably still laughing at a bunch of other crap that IS real.

I know I sound like the typical asshole who posts hateful things about Dubai out of jealousy and/or racist grounds, but I assure you, I wish the city the best. I just also happen to dislike some of the developments there.
