Census Releases 7/1/07 County pop. estimates
The Census Bureau has just released the latest county-based population estimates, with a reference date of July 1, 2007. You can access the data here:
http://www.census.gov/popest/countie...ST2007-01.html If you know the components of your area's MSA and/or CSA (this can be found on the census site also), you can now calculate the population estimate for July, 2007. Here's Atlanta: Atlanta Sandy Springs Marietta MSA 2000: 4,281,616 / 2007: 5,278,904 The Atlanta CSA adds the Gainesville, GA MSA, and the micropolitan areas of Cedartown, GA, LaGrange, GA, Thomaston, GA, and Valley, AL: Atlanta Sandy Springs Gainesville CSA 2000: 4,583,958 / 2007: 5,626,400 The Atlanta MSA has added 997,288 and the Atlanta CSA has added 1,042,442 people, since 2000. The Census Bureau noted that, in the 2000 through 2007 period, Georgia had 18 of the nation's 100 fastest-growing counties, leading the nation in that number, and three of the top 10, also leading the nation in that number. |
For Seattle:
Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue MSA (King, Snohomish, Pierce Counties): 3,309,347 Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia CSA (add Island, Thurston, Kitsap, Mason Counties): 3,922,344 For the CSA that's an increase of over 52,000 since 2006 and over 307,000 since 2000. |
Not surprised on the Georgia county numbers since they are so small.

Quote:
Houston MSA 2000: 4,715,407 / 2006: 5,539,949 / 2007: 5,660,245 Between 2006-2007, Houston's MSA grew by 120,296 people. |
Thanks, Trae...they didn't look right to me either...I selected one incorrect county...I had accidentally added Cook County (16,000) instead of Coweta (105,000)! Yeah, the Atlanta metro grew by 151,000 over the last year. Now THAT makes more sense....

This thread is dead...no one looks in this section of the forum. I started it in this section because the moderators always moved my previous population threads into it. Now I see someone has started a similar thread over in City Discussions and it's getting much more views. The inconsistency is kind of annoying.

So why isn't that other thread :lockd: or moved?
